Health Canada is advising consumers not to use the following products listed in the table below due to concerns about possible side-effects.

These products are not authorized for sale in Canada and have not been found in the Canadian marketplace. However, it is possible these products could be purchased by Canadians travelling abroad or have been brought into Canada through personal importation by travellers or purchased over the Internet.

Canadians who have these products are advised not to use them, and should consult with a health care professional if they have concerns about their health related to the use of these products. More info

31 Chao Nongsu Qingzhi Jiaonang (OPC Care) Chao Nongsu Qingzhi Jiaonang (OPC Care) is promoted as a weight-loss product. The product is adulterated with sibutramine and mazindol, two prescription medications used to suppress appetite.
31 Conting Qianweisu Slimming Herbs Capsule Conting Qianweisu Slimming Herbs Capsule is marketed as a weight-loss product. The product is adulterated with sibutramine, a prescription medication used to suppress appetite.
23 Reduce Weight Proprietary Chinese Medicine marketed as a weight-loss product. Contains the prescription drug sibutramine (the generic name for Meridia)
23 Yixinjiaonang Proprietary Chinese medicine marketed as a sexual enhancement and erectile dysfunction product. Contains the prescription drug tadalafil (the generic name for Cialis)
23 Meng Rong Proprietary Chinese medicine marketed as a sexual enhancement and erectile dysfunction product. Contains the prescription drug sildenafil (the generic name for Viagra)
23 VG Proprietary Chinese medicine marketed as a sexual enhancement and erectile dysfunction product. Contains the prescription drug sildenafil (the generic name for Viagra)

18 Zhuifeng Tougu Wan Traditional Chinese medicine (intended use unknown) that contains toxic levels of mercury.
18 Fufang LuHui Jiaonang Traditional Chinese medicine (intended use unknown) that contains toxic levels of mercury.
18 Safi Marketed as a blood purifier, but may also be marketed to treat skin conditions such as acne, boils, rashes, blemishes and hives. Contains toxic levels of arsenic.
18 Baike Wan Marketed as an herbal product for relief of muscle and joint pain, but contains the prescription drugs piroxicam and frusemide, and the over-the-counter drug chlorpheniramine.
06 Xin Yan Zi Pai Mei Zi Jiao Nang Fat Rapid Loss Capsules are marketed as a weight loss product. The capsules are dark blue in colour and contained in silver and blue blister packs.



Drugs and natural health products that are authorized for sale in Canada will have either an eight-digit Drug Identification Number (DIN), a Natural Product Number (NPN) or a Homeopathic Medicine Number (DIN-HM) on the label. These numbers indicate that the products have been assessed by Health Canada for safety, effectiveness and quality.

Health Canada advises Canadians to contact the Health Products and Food Branch Inspectorate at 1-800-267-9675 if they find any of the products listed in the table in the Canadian marketplace.
