Home Newsroom 2006 News releases 2006-07-25: Statement from Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day on the death of Constable Marc Bourdages

Statement from Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day on the death of Constable Marc Bourdages

July 25, 2006 -- “Today, on behalf of the Government of Canada, I wish to pay tribute to Constable Marc Bourdages who tragically lost his life while serving the citizens of his community and his country. Constable Bourdages served with the RCMP for five-and-a-half years. His professionalism, dedication to the Force and bravery will long be remembered by his colleagues.

My thoughts also go out to his family – his wife, who is also an RCMP constable – his parents, and his young son.

The sacrifice made by Constable Bourdages was not made in vain. The safety of ordinary citizens was his chief concern and Canadians recognize the ultimate sacrifice he made.

Along with the rest of Canada , I mourn the loss of this brave officer.”
