2006 IPOLC Competition
Four short dramas in French from outside Quebec selected by Telefilm Canada, Radio-Canada and the National Film Board for development funding

Montréal, October 19, 2006 - Telefilm Canada, Radio-Canada and the National Film Board of Canada are pleased to announce that four French-language short drama projects have been chosen for development funding through Telefilm Canada's Initiative 4 under the Interdepartmental Partnership with Official-Language Communities (IPOLC).

This initiative offers writers, directors and producers working in French outside Quebec the opportunity to hone their skills in TV drama production. It is also aimed at expanding the pool of Francophone professionals and creators in provinces other than Quebec.

The selected projects will receive financial support for the completion of a first draft, including the director's treatment.

The selection committee composed of Telefilm Canada, Radio-Canada and National Film Board of Canada representatives chose the following four projects:

Title Production company Scriptwriter Region
Ben voyons, Camille! Witness Productions Carole Ducharme British Columbia
Broue ha-ha Balestra Productions Daniel Marchildon Ontario
Soldat de métier Productions Rivard Pascal Boutroy Manitoba
Voisine (La) Productions Phare-Est Pamela Gallant New Brunswick

IPOLC is an initiative of the Department of Canadian Heritage. Radio-Canada partners by acquiring the regional and national broadcast rights to the programs. The National Film Board acts as associate producer, and Telefilm Canada participates as an investor.

Details on IPOLC and the Competition are available on the Telefilm Canada (www.telefilm.gc.ca), Radio-Canada (www.radio-canada.ca) and National Film Board of Canada (www.nfb.ca) Websites.
