As one of four federal partners under the Federal Initiative, CIHR-III administers the CIHR HIV/AIDS Research Initiative and funds meritorious research grants and personnel awards in strategic areas of HIV/AIDS research. In keeping with the intent of the Federal Initiative, the CIHR HIV/AIDS Research Initiative promotes Canadian research, which increases our understanding of the virus, the epidemic and effective responses.
This specific Request for Applications was intended to offer support to researchers from all CIHR themes and at all stages of their research careers. Funding was available to assist in exploring and developing new collaborative research opportunities and to support the furthering of a research question or methodology. Applications were accepted for all types of research, however, projects from the health services and population health areas were strongly encouraged.
