Tax tip

Signing up to be a representative has never been easier!

Did you know...

You can now register online with our new Represent a client service. Once you have completed the steps, you will receive your RepID (representative identifier). When you give your RepID to friends and family, you enable them to authorize you to deal with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) online on their behalf. If you own a small business with no Business Number (BN), you can give your RepID to your clients. Business owners, partners, directors, or officers are also able to register their business using the BN. Once your business is registered, your employees will be able to register for their own RepIDs, which must then be associated to the BN.

Once you are authorized as a representative, you will be able to transact with the (CRA) on behalf of your clients. You will be able to log in and obtain information online about your clients' tax and benefit accounts and complete certain transactions on their behalf with the CRA. The types of transactions you can complete depend on the level of permission your client has granted you.
