Elections Canada Announces Results of Judicial Recount
in the Electoral District of Parry Sound–Muskoka

OTTAWA, Friday, February 3, 2006 — The Chief Electoral Officer of Canada, Jean‑Pierre Kingsley, announced today that Tony Clement has been declared elected in the electoral district of Parry Sound–Muskoka (Ontario), following a judicial recount completed on February 3, 2006, by Justice John S. Poupore of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

At the 39th general election held on January 23, 2006, the difference between the Conservative Party of Canada candidate, Tony Clement, and the Liberal of Party of Canada candidate, Andy Mitchell, was 29 votes in favour of Tony Clement. Following the judicial recount, the difference between the two candidates is 28 votes.

The following are the results of the recount for all candidates in the riding of Parry Sound–Muskoka:

The returning officer for Parry Sound–Muskoka, Michael L. Greaves, will complete the writ of election and forward it to the Chief Electoral Officer, who will sign the writ and publish the name of the elected candidate in the Canada Gazette.
