Dialogue uppermost as the Governor General visits Prince Edward IslandNovember 3, 2005 OTTAWA – Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, and His Excellency Jean-Daniel Lafond will travel to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, on their second official regional visit, November 7 and 8, 2005. “We are delighted that our second official visit takes us to Prince Edward Island. We hope to meet with many of you in your own communities, as you work to alleviate the hardships of your fellow islanders. We look forward to speaking with you about how, through your words and actions, you can get involved in your community. I, too, was born and raised on an island; the challenges of island life are dear to my own heart” said the Governor General. Traditionally, governors general travel to each province and territory during the first year of their mandate to meet with Canadians in their respective communities.
