NEW BRUNSWICK JUDICIAL APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED

Ottawa, November 23, 2006 – The Honourable Vic Toews Q.C., Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointments:

The Honourable Kathleen A. Quigg, a lawyer with the firm Robichaud Williamson Theriault & Johnstone in Bathurst is appointed a judge of the Court of Queen's Bench of New Brunswick. She replaces Mr. Justice R.J. McIntyre ( Bathurst) who elected to become a supernumerary judge.

Madam Justice Kathleen A. Quiggre ceived a Bachelor of Laws in 1989 and a Bachelor of Arts in 1986 from the University of New Brunswick and was admitted to the Bar of New Brunswick in 1990. She has practised since 1989 with Robichaud Williamson Theriault & Johnstone developing an expertise in areas of estate planning, real estate law, corporate/commercial law, adoptions, labour and employment law and insurance law. Madam Justice Quigg is a Past President, Canadian Bar Association (New Brunswick Branch). She is also a member of the New Brunswick Insurance Board, the New Brunswick Labour Employment Board and Past President of the Victorian Order of Nurses Bathurst.

The Honourable Michel A. Robichaud, a partner in t he firm Robichaud Williamson Theriault & Johnstone in Bathurst is appointed a judge of the Court of Queen's Bench of New Brunswick. He replaces Mr. Justice T.W. Riordon (Miramichi) who elected to become a supernumerary judge.

Mr. Justice Michel A. Robichaud received a Bachelor of Laws in 1973 from Dalhousie University and a Bachelor of Arts in 1970 from Université de Moncton and was admitted to the Bar of New Brunswick in 1973. He has since then practised with Robichaud Williamson Theriault & Johnstone. In 1996, Mr. Justice Robichaud was appointed Queen's Counsel. His legal expertise is in real estate law, corporate and commercial law and municipal law. He has taken an active role in legal education as an instructor at the Bar Admission Course (in French and English) of the Law Society of New Brunswick and is a Past President of the Bathurst Rotary Club.

These appointments are effective immediately.
