By-election Information in Mail to Electors
for Repentigny and London North Centre By-elections

OTTAWA, Wednesday, November 1, 2006 — The Chief Electoral Officer of Canada, Jean-Pierre Kingsley, announced today that a personalized voter information card is being mailed to each elector whose name appears on the lists of electors in Repentigny (Quebec) and London North Centre (Ontario), where federal by-elections are now underway. Registered electors in these electoral districts should receive their voter information cards by November 7, 2006.

"The card indicates the address at which you are registered, and the address and hours of the polling station where you can vote, either in advance or on election day," said Mr. Kingsley. "It's a good idea to bring your card with you when you go to vote, to help the process run smoothly."

In the event of an error in the name or address appearing on the card, the elector should contact the office of the returning officer to have the necessary corrections made. An elector who does not receive a card should also contact the office of the returning officer. As well, an elector who receives a card for a deceased person or someone unknown at that address should contact the office of the returning officer.

An elector who does not wish to go to a polling station to vote, either in advance or on election day, who needs the services of an interpreter when voting, or who requires level access at a polling station where this is not offered, should contact the office of the returning officer to find out what options are available.

The office address and phone number of the returning officer are shown on the card. This information can also be found at www.elections.ca.

Residents of Repentigny and London North Centre may vote if they are Canadian citizens and are at least 18 years old on election day, Monday, November 27, 2006. They must also have their place of ordinary residence in the electoral district from the first day of the revision period on October 25 until election day. A person may have only one ordinary residence and may vote only once.

By-elections will be held in Repentigny and London North Centre on Monday, November 27, 2006.
