Statistics Canada - Census of Population
The next census will occur on 16 May 2006.
About 2 000 Statistics Canada census enumerators will be circulating in most urban areas across Canada from 26 August to 21 October 2005 to verify and complete the address lists for the 2006 Census before the mail-out of census questionnaires next spring.
In some cases, the enumerators may have to speak to residents to clarify dwelling information. They will not be seeking personal information. All information provided will remain confidential under the Statistics Act.
All enumerators are sworn to secrecy under the Statistics Act. They will carry official photo identification, a letter signed by their regional director and contact information for Statistics Canada offices.
