Chief Investigator Explains Process

THUNDER BAY, ONT . - Major Jim Armour, investigator in charge, Directorate of Flight Safety investigation team, will explain the methodology of the investigation Friday, August 26 at 12 p.m. at the Prince Arthur Hotel, 17 Cumberland Street North, Thunder Bay, Ont., regarding the Snowbirds' crash last Wednesday.

Major Armour, a very experienced Flight Safety investigator, will lead the team of 10 experts composed of three aircraft accident investigators, a photographer, two escape system specialists, two human factors specialists, a flight surgeon and a CT-114 operations and maintenance subject matter expert. The Directorate of Flight Safety Investigation Team arrived on scene at about 12 p.m. Thursday, August 25 to commence their investigation.

Major Ian McLean, team lead and commanding officer, Canadian Forces Snowbirds, will also provide an update.

Captain Andy Mackay, Snowbird 8, safely ejected from his CT-114 Tutor aircraft Wednesday, August 24 during the warm up phase prior to the Thunder in the Air Airshow in Thunder Bay, Ont.
