Brian Alexander Appointed to Canadian Tourism Commission Board of Directors

OTTAWA, August 30, 2005 — The Honourable David L. Emerson, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC), today announced the appointment of Brian Alexander to the CTC Board of Directors.

"I believe the Canadian Tourism Commission will benefit from the knowledge, insight and experience that Mr. Alexander will bring to the board," said Minister Emerson. "His experience in the fields of business and tourism will help the Commission continue its leadership role in promoting Canadian tourism."

Since 2003, Mr. Alexander has been the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Parks for the Government of New Brunswick. He has spent over 20 years within New Brunswick's public sector, holding several positions in both the departments of Health and Community Services and Financial Services. He was also Executive Director of the Department of the Solicitor General of Administration; Assistant Deputy Minister of Law Enforcement; and Deputy Minister of Public Safety. In 2002, he was named chair of the provincial government's United Way campaign.

Mr. Alexander holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of New Brunswick and a Master's degree in Public Administration from Queen's University.
