HEALTH HAZARD ALERTPRESENCE OF PLASTIC PARTICLES IN NESTLÉ BABY RICE CEREAL - ADD BREAST MILK OR FORMULAOTTAWA, August 10, 2005 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Nestlé Canada Inc. are warning the public not to consume one production lot code of Nestlé Baby Rice Cereal - Add Breast Milk or Formula because some packages may contain pieces of plastic capable of causing injury. The affected product, Nestlé Baby Rice Cereal - Add Breast Milk or Formula is packaged in a 227 g format with UPC code 0 65000 12516 0. The affected product bears the expiry date 2006 MR 23 and the production code 42670742A1 (located on the top of the box, in the right corner). No other products and sizes are affected by this alert. Consumption of the affected product may cause injury. There has been no reported injury associated with the consumption of this product. Nestlé Canada, Toronto, Ontario is voluntarily recalling this product. The product has been distributed nationally. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
