Governor General Michaëlle Jean to host an Open House at the Citadelle of Québec on September 24, 2006

OTTAWA—Come meet Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, and Mr. Jean-Daniel Lafond, along with their daughter Marie-Éden, at an Open House at the governor general’s residence at the Citadelle of Québec, on Sunday, September 24, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Members of the public will be able to enjoy a wide array of activities: residence tours, messages sent to the members of the Canadian Forces serving abroad, cooking demonstrations by the Rideau Hall chefs, heraldic art and honours exhibits, a family activity to create a personal coat of arms, and a concert by la Musique du Royal 22Régiment, one of Canada’s most renowned military bands.

Program 
1:30 p.m. – Opening of the grounds.
2:00 p.m. – The Governor General and Mr. Lafond meet with the public. The residence opens its doors for tours.
3:00 p.m. – The Governor General will deliver a few remarks, followed by a concert by la Musique du Royal 22e Régiment.
4:00 p.m. – End of Open House.

A free shuttle service will be offered beginning at 1:30 p.m. (departing from the Manège militaire on the Grande Allée). The Open House will take place come rain or shine.

Their Excellencies will be staying at the Citadelle and will take part in a series of activities in the region from September 18 to 24, 2006.
