President of Latvia to Plant Commemorative Tree at Rideau HallSeptember 22, 2006 OTTAWA—Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, will receive Her Excellency Vaira Vike-Freiberga, President of Latvia, and Mr. Imants Freibergs on Tuesday, September 26, 2006, at 1 p.m., at Rideau Hall, for a tree-planting ceremony to commemorate their visit to Canada. The President will plant an American beech alongside the McKay walk near the Heritage Garden. President Vike-Freiberga has been in Canada since September 20 and was officially welcomed on that day by the Governor General, at the Citadelle in Quebec City.
