TORONTO, January 13, 2005 -- Minister of State (Families and Caregivers) and Member of Parliament (Trinity Spadina) Tony Ianno, on behalf of Minister of Canadian Heritage and Minister responsible for Status of Women Liza Frulla, today announced $48,000 in funding for the Chinese Canadian National Council. The funds will enable the organization to enhance its presence on the Internet.

"This new Web site will give Chinese Canadians an opportunity to share their rich culture and traditions with Internet users from here and abroad," said Minister Ianno.

"The Internet is a valuable tool to make known our values, the events that shaped our history and the people who built our country," said Minister Frulla. "I am delighted that our Government is supporting the Chinese Canadian National Council in its efforts to showcase the Chinese-Canadian culture on the Internet."

The new Web site will include an anthology of stories, youth videos, visual arts works, as well as a discussion board.
