Up to $100,000 Available to Participate in the Environmental Assessment of the Rabaska Project
OTTAWA, January 20, 2005 – The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency announces the establishment of a Participant Funding Program to help the public take part in the panel review of the Rabaska project, in Quebec. The project is subject to an environmental assessment under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act.
Up to $100,000 is available to allow individuals and organizations to take part in the review of the impact statement of the project and in the public hearings that will follow. Funding applications must be received at the Agency no later than February 21, 2005.
A funding review committee, which is independent of the panel, will review all of the applications received and recommend allocation of funds, in accordance with the eligibility criteria set out in the Participant Funding Program Guide.
The Rabaska Project includes a terminal comprising two storage tanks, a marine jetty to receive the LNG tankers, pumping, compression and vaporizing facilities and a pipeline of approximately 50 kilometers to connect the terminal to the existing facilities of Trans Québec & Maritimes Pipeline Inc. in St. Nicolas.
