Atlantic Canada Severe Winter Weather Awareness

Weather Aware - Weather Prepared!

High winds, blowing snow, and waves from an early winter storm on November 21, 2004 made crossing the Canso Causeway to Cape Breton a very dangerous trip.

Each year winter weather events contribute to widespread property damage, injuries and even fatalities. In order to equip Atlantic Canadians with tools to protect themselves, their families and their property, Environment Canada has produced a comprehensive web site containing information on severe winter weather in the Atlantic region, practical tips for preparing for poor winter weather and numerous links to other helpful web sites. Click here to read the Severe Winter Weather Awareness Week news release.
