Indian Residential Schools Resolution Canada - Indian Residential Schools Resolution

Minister responsible for Indian Residential Schools Resolution Canada Beverley Oda and Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development and Federal Interlocutor for Métis and Non-Status Indians Jim Prentice have announced the approval of the Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement and the immediate launch of the Advance Payment program.

Under the program, eligible Indian residential school students who were 65 years of age and older on 30 May 2005 may apply for an advance payment of $8 000 by completing the application form available on the Department's Web site. Applicants who do not have access to the Internet may contact the Department through its toll-free telephone service. Applications must be submitted by 31 December 2006.
