International Policing at its Best: Fugitive Turns Himself in after Interpol Ottawa Issues Public Notice

Friday, January 13, 2006 — On Wednesday, January 11, 2006, U.S. fugitive Richard Rightmire turned himself in to members of the RCMP Kingston Detachment after learning Interpol Ottawa had issued a news release on the RCMP website stating he was wanted by Canadian and American authorities.

The success of locating this individual can be attributed to the cooperation between Interpol Ottawa, the Provincial Repeat Offender and Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad Ottawa office, the Toronto Police Service Fugitive Squad, the Durham Regional Police Service, and the public.
