First Edition of the Integrated HR and Business Planning Tool Kit

February 2005

Larry Murray and Alain Jolicoeur, the Co-Chairs for the DM Sub-Committee on
Staffing and Staffing Recourse are pleased to announce the first edition of the Integrated HR and Business Planning Tool Kit. It is designed as an evolving, "evergreen" document, and the first of a number of enabling tools to follow. In the near future, a planning tool on staffing models and one to support expenditure management review efforts will also be offered.

Improving departmental capacity for the integration of HR management with departmental business planning is one of the Clerk's priorities. As well, the new accountabilities and flexibilities for departments and agencies under the Public Service Employment Act (PSEA) and the TBS Management Accountability Framework point to the importance of integrated planning. The DM Sub-Committee on Staffing and Staffing Recourse believe this kit will help departments and agencies lay a firm foundation for integrated HR and business planning. The HR Planning Team at the Public Service Human Resources Management Agency is ready to provide their expertise and knowledge of best practices to support your efforts.

This kit was developed with the combined efforts of the Interdepartmental HR Planning Working Group and departments and agencies through cross-country consultations and participation on the Working Group.
