The 2006 Canada Post Literacy Awards are now closed. Click here to view brief profiles of each winner.
The Literacy Awards were established by Canada Post in 1993 as a means to celebrate the achievements of both adult learners and those who have helped them learn to read and write. By publicly acknowledging these efforts, the Literacy Awards continue today to inspire thousands of Canadians to improve their reading and writing skills and to reach their personal literacy goals.
Prizes
Each winner in the Individual Achievement and Educator categories receives a notebook computer and winners in the Community Leadership category receive cash awards of $2,000.
All winners also receive certificates of achievement and public recognition, and transportation as needed to the awards ceremony in their province or territory.
