Consolidated Call Letter, HR Reporting

April 19, 2006

Dear Colleague:

The Public Service Human Resources Management Agency of Canada (PSHRMAC) is committed to developing a more integrated approach to human resource (HR) policy monitoring and reporting by departments and agencies to central agencies with HR management responsibilities. Starting with the remaining reporting requirements for fiscal year 200506 PSHRMAC has begun to streamline its own information gathering on three fronts.

First, instead of receiving several requests for HR reports from PSHRMAC, you are receiving this consolidated call letter for phase one of the integrated reporting project for fiscal year 200506.

Second, to make it easier for your department or agency to collect and submit this information, PSHRMAC has developed common-look-and-feel templates that can be completed online. It is also intended that the use of these templates will enhance the availability of information online and will support your efforts to integrate human resources and business planning in your organization throughout the year.

Third, where possible, PSHRMAC will use existing central data sources to populate the fields in the online templates with information for verification by your department/agency.

PSHRMAC is also working closely with the other central agencies that have human resources management reporting responsibilities to further streamline information gathering, where appropriate, for future reporting cycles. We are collectively committed to continuing to work to further improve the integration of human resources management-related reporting in the coming fiscal years.

The templates are now available online, and must be completed by June 15, 2006, as the database will be locked at that time. Policy centres within PSHRMAC will be communicating directly with representatives in your department or agency to provide access to the web portal and instructions on its use.

Please contact Mr. Dan Danagher, Director General, Research, Information Management and Results Division, at (613) 9489869 or by email at danagher.dan@hrma-agrh.gc.ca if you require additional information or clarification.

Yours sincerely,

Michelle Chartrand
President
