Hutterian Brethren Church Fined for Illegally Transporting MeatOn March 28, 2006, Hutterian Brethren Church of Spring Creek entered a guilty plea for one count of violating the Meat Inspection Act in provincial court in Medicine Hat, Alta. Hutterian Brethren Church was fined $2,000 for unlawfully transporting meat products from Saskatchewan to Alberta that were not prepared in a registered establishment. Hutterian Brethren Church slaughtered uninspected chickens in Saskatchewan, which were subsequently transported to Alberta for sale.
