24 heures de science

Take part in the 24 heures de science at the Canadian Space Agency!

Sign up to be an explorer for an evening at the Canadian Space Agency May 12, 2006 6:00 to 10:00 p.m.

It's science with a mission at Canada's space headquarters! And during the 24 heures de science celebrations, you can take part in the adventure. Explore the universe with our experts. Get some hands-on experience investigating Mars. Study the Earth's environment with our satellites. See how interplanetary gardeners could make long-duration missions possible.

You won't need a spacesuit to visit the John H. Chapman Space Centre, but you will need to register in advance! The countdown has begun, so fill out the form and plan your visit today. Visitors cannot be admitted without pre-registering, so get the whole family ready for an evening of science fun!

Program of the evening's activities

Explore the Canadian Space Agency: Tour the John H. Chapman Space Centre.
Suitable for explorers of all ages
Explore the Universe Workshop suitable for explorers of all ages
Explore Mars Workshop best suited for high school age and up
Explore Earth Presentation suitable for explorers of all ages
At the Conference Centre Hall Exhibits and activities
At the cafeteria Pause for coffee and snack and get a new perspective on space.

Schedule for English activities

6:00 p.m. Visitor check-in (at the main entrance)
6:15 to 7:15 Tour the John H. Chapman Space Centre (departure near the cafeteria)
8:00 to 8:45 Explore Earth (Conference Centre, Rooms 1 and 2)
9:00 to 10:00 Explore Mars (Conference Centre, Rooms 3, 4, and 5. Note: space is limited to a maximum of 30 people, so arrive early!)
9:00 to 9:45 Tour the John H. Chapman Space Centre (departure near the cafeteria)

All Evening

Activities in the Conference Centre Hall

  • Quiz: Name that city … as seen from space!
  • Live images from space via the CSA's Observatory (weather permitting)
  • Virtual Visit: tour the CSA from the comfort of a computer station

Activities in the Cafeteria

  • Pause for coffee and snacks
  • Drop by the souvenir booth
  • Space quiz: true or false?
  • All about space food
  • Live images from space via the CSA's Observatory (weather permitting)
  • Take your photo as an astronaut
  • Calculate your mass on Mars
  • Puzzles, colouring, and crafts for kids!
