Tuesday May 16, 2006 is Census Day.  On this day, everyone in Canada will contribute to the country’s largest source of statistical information by completing and returning their census questionnaire.

Census information will also serve future generations by providing them with historical and genealogical data that will allow them to better understand their national, regional and family history. Public support and participation in the 2006 Census is what makes this passing of information from generation to generation possible.

For the first time, people living in Canada will have the choice to decide whether they want their personal census information publicly released for historical and genealogical research after 92 years.

Everyone can make their contribution to the 2006 Census by counting themselves in when they receive their census form sometime during the first two weeks of May.

Census information provides governments, national organizations and businesses with the valuable insight necessary to make decisions on programs and services related to health care, education, public transportation and so much more.
