How to access our products and services

You can access Statistics Canada information on www.statcan.ca, in print or on CD-ROM. As well, a number of distributors make Statistics Canada information available by itself or in combination with other products.

Our web site is loaded with the most up-to-date information about our country and our society, including:

• The Daily, our official news release is published every working day. As well as being the Agency's first line of communication with the media and the pubic, it provides a comprehensive one-stop overview of new information, analyses, products and services available from Statistics Canada.

• Summary Tables in Canadian Statistics, a comprehensive series of downloadable tables, updated regularly, dealing with the economy, the land, the people and the state.

• The Statistical Profile of Canadian Communities contain free information for all Canadian communities (cities, towns, villages, Indian reserves and Indian settlements, etc.), for counties or their equivalents and for metropolitan areas .

• The Census provides information about the demographic, social and economic characteristics of the Canadian population and about its housing units.

• Downloadable publications and research documents put Canadian socio-economic events in context.

• CANSIM offers authoritative data on labour, manufacturing, investment, and international trade. With over 1 million series, CANSIM allows you to track trends and extract data on virtually every aspect of Canadian life.

Print publications

For a complete list of print publications, use the online catalogue or call 1-800-267-6677 to order a print publication. Print publications are also held in many libraries across Canada.

Distributors

Statistics Canada licenses the distribution of its data and products in many forms. Some companies redistribute Statistics Canada data products without changing them and others combine Statistics Canada data with their own products to create a new value-added product.
