Why can't I get information on municipalities that underwent recent amalgamation?
The data provided by the 2001 Census are a snapshot of the country on May 15, 2001, based on the municipal boundaries of January 1, 2001 and received by Statistics Canada by March 1, 2001.
Since the geographic framework for the census is established according to the geographic areas in effect January 1, 2001, restructuring that took place after this date is not found in this application.
