An Eastern Regional PSMA Forum offered by the Canada School
of Public Service in collaboration with the Nova Scotia Federal Council.
This forum will enable the Eastern Region
community / network leaders to:

deepen their understanding
and appreciation of the “big
picture:” How the public service environment, the delivery
of public service work, and the federal public service is changing;
plus some key government initiatives that reflect these changes:
PSMA; Service Canada; and Shared Services;

explore the role of Communities of Practice
in implementing change and shaping the future;
-
promote inter-departmental and regional dialogue
and collaboration around public service change initiatives.

Members and leaders
of critical functional communities,
such as executives, middle managers,
HR professionals, IT-IM specialists,
finance and
administration, communication,
in-person and on-line services delivery, regulatory and

improvement
practitioners, change management/leadership,

The objective of the Service Canada workshop is to ensure
an understanding of the key features of Service Canada
and to provide a forum where participants can discuss both
the implications for the Nova Scotia citizen and how interdepartmental
networks could help realize the potential of Service Canada
in this province."

Margurite Beaudoin-MacLean
The facilitator will provide the highlights and key changes of the new Public
Service Employment Act (PSEA), which came into effect in December 2005. The
participants will discuss the ensuing opportunities and challenges of the new
Act, as well as competencies and strategies to facilitate its implementation.
PSLRA
Steve Hindle, Senior Visiting Fellow, Canada School of Public Service
The new Public Service Labour Relations Act (PSLRA) came
into force on April 1, 2005. How have we taken advantage
of the changes during the first six months? What other
opportunities are available and how do we exploit them?"
Human Resources
Gilles Carpentier, Director General, Public Service Human
Resources Management Agency of Canada
The facilitator will be introducing the Corporate Administrative
Shared Services (CASS) initiative of the Federal Government
in the management of Human Resources.
