Canada Premium Bonds and Canada Savings Bonds February 1, 2001, Issues to Be Withdrawn from Sale

Secretary of State (International Financial Institutions) Jim Peterson, on behalf of Finance Minister Paul Martin, today announced that the February 1, 2001, issues of Canada Premium Bond (CPB) Series 18 and Canada Savings Bond (CSB) Series 69 will be withdrawn from sale at the close of business today, Friday, January 26, 2001.

Purchase instructions received where individuals bank or invest or directly at the Bank of Canada Call Centre by close of business January 26, 2001, will be honoured.

The next series of CPBs and CSBs, together with the no-fee registered retirement savings plan and registered retirement income fund options, will be on sale in early February. Interest rates will be announced at that time.
