Ottawa, March 7, 2001 Department of Finance Releases Public Opinion ResearchThe Department of Finance today released the results of public opinion research it commissioned. This material includes findings of a survey and focus group conducted during September and October 2000 in advance of the Economic Statement and Budget Update on the attitudes of Canadians regarding policy priorities. Also included are focus group testing on health care conducted in May 2000 and focus group testing on advertising conducted in May and June 2000. Focus group testing and surveys conducted for Canada Investment and Savings (CI&S) in December 1999 and in March, April, June, July and September 2000 are also being released. The CI&S research examines various issues related to service delivery and product assessment and development. The research was designed by Earnscliffe Research & Communications. The field results were collected and tabulated by Pollara Strategic Public Opinion and Market Research, Infocus Qualitative Research Services and Ekos Research. The release of this material reflects the Government's practice of making polling information available to the public. The Department of Finance regularly undertakes public opinion research to gauge the views of Canadians on a wide range of economic and fiscal issues.
