Department of Finance Releases Public Opinion Research

The Department of Finance today released the results of public opinion research it commissioned. This material includes findings of three surveys conducted in March, September and October 2001, and one conducted in November 2001 in advance of the 2001 budget on the attitudes of Canadians regarding the economy and their policy priorities.

The research was designed by Earnscliffe Research & Communications. The field results were collected and tabulated by Pollara Strategic Public Opinion and Market Research and Environics Research. The release of this material reflects the Government’s practice of making polling information available to the public. The Department of Finance regularly undertakes public opinion research to gauge the views of Canadians on a wide range of economic and fiscal issues.

Copies of the research may be obtained by contacting the Department of Finance’s Public Affairs and Operations Division at the telephone number below. The research is available only in the language in which it was provided and is not available on the Department’s Web site.
