Finance Ministers Meeting, June 26 - 28, 2006, Niagara-on-the-Lake – Technical and Logistical Issues

The Minister of Finance, Jim Flaherty, will meet with provincial and territorial finance ministers and treasurers as well as securities ministers, on June 26 to 28, 2006, in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.

The event will take place at The Pillar and Post Inn, 48 John Street, Niagara-on-the-Lake.

More details on the meeting will be released shortly.

Media representatives planning to cover the Finance Ministers Meeting must be accredited and hold a media identification badge to have access to the facilities.

Accreditation is open to journalists registered with the Canadian Parliamentary Press Gallery or provincial press galleries. Other media representatives must be sponsored by a recognized news organization and attach a letter of assignment to the accreditation form.

The accreditation form (http://www.fin.gc.ca/notices/PDF/2006-06-16e.pdf) should be completed and returned by fax to 613 996-8404 by Thursday, June 22, 2006.

A media working room will be located in The Gallery room (level 2) of The Pillar and Post Inn, 48 John Street, Niagara-on-the-Lake.

The media working room will be open on Monday, June 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., on Tuesday, June 27, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and on Wednesday, June 28, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Please be aware that workspace will be allotted on a first-come, first-served basis upon registration.

Media requiring installation of their own telephone lines in the media working room should contact Bell Canada directly at 1 800 414-8424.

News organizations using satellite trucks should act early to secure an appropriate parking spot near The Pillar and Post Inn. Questions regarding arrangements for a parking spot should be directed to David Gamble at 613 996-8080.

Registration and issuance of badges will take place in the main entrance of The Pillar and Post Inn starting on Monday, June 26.
