Federal Government Approves Acquisition of London Insurance Group by Great-West Life
Secretary of State (International Financial Institutions) Jim Peterson announced today that the acquisition of London Insurance Group by Great-West Lifeco Inc. and Great-West Life Assurance Company has been approved.
The Secretary of State said that the decision was made after the Superintendent of Financial Institutions had completed his review and recommended that the transaction be approved. In addition, the Director of Investigation and Research, Competition Bureau, had also reviewed the transaction.
Mr. Peterson said that the preliminary views of the Task Force on the Future of the Canadian Financial Services Sector were considered and proved helpful in reviewing this transaction.
