Canada Plans U.S. Dollar Global Bond Issue

Secretary of State Doug Peters, on behalf of the Minister of Finance, Paul Martin, today announced that Canada intends to issue a global offering of U.S. dollar bonds for simultaneous distribution in Asia, Europe and North America. Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and RBC Dominion Securities are the joint leads and bookrunners for the issue. The remainder of the syndicate will be made up of a group of international and Canadian firms.

Secretary of State Peters said favourable market conditions are providing an opportunity to raise funds for Canada's foreign exchange reserves.
