Ottawa, September 10, 2004 Canada Nominates World Bank Executive Director to Second TermMinister of Finance Ralph Goodale today announced the nomination of Marcel Massé to a second term as Executive Director at the World Bank in Washington, D.C. "It gives me great pleasure to nominate Mr. Massé to another term in this position," said Minister Goodale. "His understanding of the issues and experience in the field of international development make him a natural choice to represent Canada in this important post." Mr. Massé’s first term as Executive Director began in 2002. His record of public service extends over more than 30 years, including various posts with the World Bank, the Government of New Brunswick and the Government of Canada. As a federal public servant, Mr. Massé held a number of positions in the Privy Council Office and was twice named president of the Canadian International Development Agency. From 1993 to 1999 Mr. Massé served as member of Parliament for the constituency of Hull-Aylmer. During that time he served as Minister Responsible for Public Service Renewal, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and President of the Treasury Board of Canada. ___________________
