Note: In July 2004, the Expenditure Review Committee became a Sub-Committee of the Treasury Board with the purpose of reviewing all programs and areas of cross-cutting interest and make recommendations to the Treasury Board on funding decisions and re-allocations. Please see the most recent list of members.  The support function of the Expenditure Review Sub-Committee was transferred to the Privy Council Office effective August 18, 2004.

"A vibrant public service is vital to the social, political and economic well-being of this country and is essential in ensuring the quality of life of Canadians. We must, however, modernize. Democratically elected governments throughout the industrialized world are struggling with the same problems and I want Canada to be at the forefront of change, not playing catch up."

Reg Alcock
President of the Treasury Board and
 Minister responsible for the
 Canadian Wheat Board
