In January 2001, an Employment Equity Program for
the AEXDP was created under section 5.1 of the Public Service Employment
Act to increase to 20 percent the visible minority representation
on the AEXDP (i.e. 1 in 5 Perinbam target for 2003). The Program pursued
two strategic lines of inquiry to achieve this objective: i) an internal
campaign (a special AEXDP initiative, open to visible minority executives
within the Federal Public Service); and ii) external recruitment.
By March 2003, the Program had achieved 23 percent
visible minority participation, a representation it maintains to date.
