Mandate
The Interdepartmental Forum on Employment Equity (IDF-EE) is a forum for partnership
between departments, agencies and the Treasury Board Secretariat in order to provide
leadership and to facilitate the achievement of Employment Equity objectives as defined by
governmental policies. This forum fosters learning, the exchange of information and
consultations with members, representatives of central agencies, and the greater community
of Employment Equity stakeholders and clients. It provides an opportunity for participants
to discuss issues and concerns of general interest to the membership and to participate in
the advancement of Employment Equity.
This mandate will be carried out through:
- Promotion of continuous learning and development of EE specialists; and
- Dissemination and sharing of information on Employment Equity;
- Consultation on program and policy development initiatives;
- Identification of issues and concerns followed by participation in the problem solving
process;
- Organization, as required, of special information sessions (thematic days) for the
public servants interested in EE issues.
Membership
The membership of the IDF-EE will include a minimum of one representative involved in
the implementation of EE to be nominated by each federal department or agency. Included as
well are designated representatives of central agencies who are members of the Steering
Committee.
Only departmental representatives as outlined under membership can elect the
departmental co-chair and departmental representatives for the Steering Committee.
Participation
All federal employees involved in the implementation of Employment Equity may be
present at meetings and participate in the discussions.
Frequency of meetings
Meetings of the IDF-EE will be held 5 times per year, every second month or more
frequently, if necessary.
