Benefits,

An enterprise-wide architecture implemented by the GOC FAP will result in key benefits outlined below.

The GOC FAP will provide an architecture that is:

  • derived from the business drivers, strategies and related information requirements;
  • based upon a logically consistent set of principles and best practices;
  • understood and supported by departmental executives and lines of business;
  • the basis for engineering the strategic government-wide IM/IT infrastructure across the various component architectures; and
  • a blueprint for minimizing the costs of deploying and supporting technology.

 The GOC FAP will provide a business driven architecture that creates an IM/IT government-wide enterprise environment that supports:

  • better alignment of IT resources with business goals to rapidly respond to business process changes;
  • capabilities to accommodate significant growth in electronic traffic;
  • assurance of privacy and confidentiality through a secure and trusted environment;
  • more effective IT investments;
  • lower total cost of ownership;
  • successful resolution of emerging business problems while leveraging existing technology investment;
  • development of a consistent framework for future technology decisions; and
  • adaptability to evolving technologies and mechanisms for funding and management.

A fully implemented business driven architecture increases the ability to provide consistent services, accessible information, scaleable infrastructure, and flexible technology integration on demand. It helps bridge the gap between business and IT and creates a shared enterprise vision.
