Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) Audit Guide

Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) refers to a comprehensive process for determining the effects of a specific service delivery initiative on an individual's privacy. PIAs help departments and agencies build privacy in at the outset of any new program or service and provide Canadians with the assurance they have come to expect when they transmit their personal information to the government. 

The Privacy Impact Assessment Audit Guide has been prepared to assist federal institutions in auditing the implementation of the Privacy Impact Assessment Policy and to promote a common understanding of the implementation and audit of the PIA Policy in the federal government.
