Travel Advisory

DATE: October 3, 2001

SUBJECT: Travel Advisory

With the gradual resumption of normal business travel, employees are advised to take the following steps:

  • Carry the telephone numbers and addresses of Canadian missions closest to the location of travel, when travelling outside Canada. Missions include Embassies, High Commissions and Consulates.
  • Read the travel advisories published by DFAIT.
  • Register with the Canadian mission closest to the location of travel when travelling to countries that may be affected as a result of recent events. Registration involves leaving a copy of your itinerary and coordinates.
  • Obtain a government credit card if you do not have one. If your travel is disrupted, a government credit card would provide funding to cover additional travel costs. Those employees who already have a credit card should ensure that their line of credit is clear, in order to have funds available for emergencies.
