Background

The department's mission is to foster a growing competitive, knowledge-based Canadian economy. Fourteen federal departments and agencies make up the Industry Portfolio. Industry Canada works in partnership with the members of the Industry Portfolio to leverage resources and exploit synergies in a number of specific areas.
