Dear Mr. Manley:
As requested by the Deputy Minister of Finance at a meeting held on February 8, 2002 , and as agreed to in my engagement letter of April 23, 2002, please find attached my Reports (in both English and French) all dated May 31, 2002 for the following:
- AUDITOR’S REPORT on the Statement of Assessed Mutual Fund Trust Provincial Capital Gains Refunds for the 1997 to 1999 Tax Years
- ACCOUNTANT’S REPORT on the results of applying specified auditing procedures to the Statement of Assessed Mutual Fund Trust Provincial Capital Gains Refunds for the 1993 to 1996 Tax Years
- ACCOUNTANT’S REPORT on the results of applying specified auditing procedures in connection with the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency’s assertion that no financial information is available to separately identify the provincial portions of Mutual Fund Trust Capital Gains Refunds for tax years prior to 1993
- ACCOUNTANT’S REPORT on the results of applying specified auditing procedures in connection with the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency’s (CCRA) assertion that CCRA’s accounting practices applicable to mutual fund trust capital gains refunds have been revised to avoid a similar omission in the future
Reports 1, 2, and 3 above deal with the first task contained in my engagement letter, while Report 4 deals with the second task. I will be reporting to you on the third task in June.
