The Government of Ontario Information & Technology Standards (GO-ITS) are the official publications concerning the standards, guidelines, technical reports and preferred practices adopted by the Information Technology Standards Council under delegated authority of the Management Board of Cabinet. These publications are in furtherance of the Management Board Secretariat's responsibilities for coordinating the standardization of information and technology within the Government of Ontario.
These publications provide policy guidance and administrative information for the implementation of new or revised Information Technology (IT) standards and are prepared for use within the Government of Ontario. In particular, they set out whether the application of an IT standard is mandatory and any specifications for implementation of the particular standard. The publications are under the copyright of the Queen's Printer for Ontario.
The Government of Ontario does not represent or warrant the accuracy of the technical content of the standards, and users should make their own inquiries.
The Government of Ontario has adopted technical standards, developed by recognized standards development organizations (SDO’s), and widely used throughout industry and other government jurisdictions, to support seamless interoperability in the delivery of e-government services. The Government of Ontario has also developed a number of I&IT guidelines, policies and procedures that support the implementation of approved standards within our I&IT environment. In addition, the Ontario Government selects and implements mandatory enterprise-wide I&IT solutions (products) and publishes IT Standards Profiles that bring together the subset of IT standards applicable to each enterprise-wide solution.
