Office of the Information Commissioner of
Canada
The Office investigates complaints from people who believe they have been denied rights under the Access to Information Act - Canada's freedom of information legislation. An independent ombudsman appointed by Parliament, the Information Commissioner has strong investigative powers and mediates between dissatisfied applicants and government institutions. Preserving Federal Publications for Long-Term Access
National Library of Canada Francine Bédard and Fay Hjartarson Presentation at IM Day 2002 September 13, 2002 Since 1994, the National Library has been collecting, organizing, and providing access to electronic publications created by federal departments. During this time the Library has established partnerships with 37 federal organizations, has collected over 6000 titles, and has created a guide to best practices for Canadian publishers. This session will provide you with an overview of this innovative project and describe the challenges currently being addressed.
