Employee Personnel Records
Description: This bank is under the control of the Human Resources Section. It provides a summary record of an individual's employment with the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board. The data include appointment certificates, performance assessments, attendance, leave and overtime records, letters of recommendation, curricula vitae, development and training courses, medical and dental insurance claim information, pension information and other personnel and organizational documents. The bank contains records of all individuals in the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board's employment. Records of former employees are transferred to a dormant file following termination of employment. Employees and former employees may gain access to their records by contacting the Human Resources Section.
Class of Individuals: Employees of the Board.
Purpose: To provide a summary record of the individual's employment with the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board.
Consistent Uses: Information may be used for purposes of employment references or group insurance.
Retention and Disposal Standards: Following termination, records of former employees are transferred to a dormant file. The information is destroyed when the individual reaches the age of 70, or two years after the death of the individual, provided two years have elapsed since the last administrative action.
RDA Number: The Board has initiated discussions with National Archives to establish new records retention and disposal standards for these records.
