Introduction:
Many of the social, economic or environmental issues that matter to
Canadians transcend departmental and jurisdictional boundaries. Classified as 'Horizontal Results initiatives' (i.e. partnerships, joint
initiatives, collaborative arrangements, etc...) they often involve
various departments, agencies, governments, or third-party stakeholders.
As such, the process of providing comprehensive performance information
that effectively describes the impacts and benefits of such programs is a
challenging but necessary endeavour.
About the Seminar Series:
The Government of Canada has responded to this challenge by
establishing (among others) the Horizontal Results Seminar Series.
The Series provides an exciting forum in which federal officials involved
in 'Horizontal Results initiatives' can come together to discuss:
- results-based management;
- performance measurement; and
- accountability frameworks.
In addition to its role as an information exchange in which best
practices, lessons learned, and problem-solving techniques are shared, it
also serves as a networking mechanism for officials involved in
interdepartmental and/or intergovernmental initiatives.
