Call for
Nominations for the 2004 Agatha Bystram Award for Leadership in Information
Management
Established by the Council of Federal Libraries (CFL) in 1995 to honour
the contribution of Agatha Bystram (1934-1994), a highly respected pioneer in the
management of federal information resources, this award recognizes excellence in
the field of information management. Nominees must be federal government
employees.
Close of nominations: May 28, 2004

Framework
for the Management of Information – XML Guideline (DRAFT)
Information Management Resource Centre
December 2003
This guideline is designed to encourage those who plan, design or implement
projects to think about how XML can be used in managing information. No
technical background is needed. The guideline is currently under review by
departments and agencies.

Government
of Canada Type Scheme (Updated)
Government On-Line Metadata Working Group
The Government of Canada <dc.type> type Scheme is to be used as a source of
standardized terminology for the indexing and retrieval of resources by type. Its
main function is to standardize the external form and meaning of index terms, thus
ensuring that a particular resource type will always be represented in the same
way in the index.
New indexing term: search interface (interface de recherche)

Information
Management Leadership Initiative
Government of Canada
The IM Community's Information Management Leadership Initiative (IMLI) is an
important first step in developing this IM leadership capacity. It is a two-year,
centrally administered learning initiative designed to meet common needs
identified by individual departments. The first cohort of 25 participants from 18
departments are both developing their own leadership skills and designing a
groundbreaking program that allows them to continue meeting their commitments
within their departments while in the program.
