The International Research on Permanent Authentic Records in Electronic Systems
(InterPARES) aims at developing the theoretical and methodological knowledge essential to the long-term preservation
of authentic records created and/or maintained in digital form. This knowledge should provide the basis from which to
formulate model policies, strategies and standards capable of ensuring the longevity of such material and the ability
of its users to trust its authenticity. InterPARES has developed in two phases: |
Major funding for The InterPARES Project is provided by The
Social Sciences and Humanities Reseach Council of Canada’s Major Collaborative Research Initiatives (SSHRC-MCRI), and
the National Historical Publications and Records Commission and the National
Science Foundation of the United States. For other funding sources, see funding page of each phase.
The InterPARES Project is based at the School of Library, Archival
and Information Studies at the University of British Columbia, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The InterPARES Project
Director is Dr. Luciana Duranti.
